“A short denim commercial has become a Rorschach test for terminally online brains rotted by grievance courses and unprocessed trauma.” Bingo, so well said.
Pantomiming outrage and pearl-clutching used to give you status and popularity. The jig is now up as what the useful idiots and true believers of woke didn’t realize was that, as Chris Hall wrote, “a big part of it is how much you can give off the image of being one of the crowd to keep what is effectively a pretty good job.
It's in this community more than any other that I hear the point being that being invited to social gatherings typically is the biggest reason a number who are indifferent to walk indoctrination end up nodding at all the right points in order to be socially acceptable.”
This is nothing short of an unmitigated success and the mockery/dismissal of the lunacy shows that sanity is once again waking up after a long sleep.
Excellent points, Adam. There's definitely a small (although not trivial) percentage of the population in this country that have lost their minds to the Marxist virus. Fortunately, they overplayed their hand during the Biden years, and most people are now fed up with them and not afraid to call out their BS.
Im just a dude trapped inside of another dude stuck between a computer and a power supply. I enjoy reading your emails when I get them. Thanks for being a good writer and doing what you do!
Don’t forget our marketing peers who are also greatly offended by this ad, mainly because they are going to go with the flow of whatever the perceived backlash is on social media. Only there’s plenty of people on places like X and Facebook scratching their heads and wondering what the big deal is. If marketers only pay attention to the TikTok algorithm, they’re going to find themselves in even more of an echo chamber than they are in now.
A lot of the mainstream media was actually downstream of tiktok reactions, which is pretty insane if you think about it - that people take random TikTokers ideas and put them on a global stage. It's like the video comments section of the internet. Incredible how far media outlets sink for attention. A lot of these brands are on borrowed time, clearly just scraping the bottom here.
I don’t know if AE intended to cause a firestorm - likely not - but it has discovered a way to stretch its advertising dollars in an extreme way. Sydney likely cost them millions to do the ad, but certainly got more attention than AE expected.
Sexy people sell jeans. Huge if true.
I have no idea who Sydney Sweeney is, but she may have singlehandedly made the Canadian tuxedo great again.

Streisand effect FTW
Woke is dead and this is the best the mob can come up with.
Thank you. That's all I have to say.
I think she looks hot.
Haha! Poor things. They’ll get over it.

Love the post
Love the ad
Love the response to the ad!
People really have gone off the rails and they will be quick to Qaddafi you for disagreeing with them.
The definition of insanity fully out on display! Those poor people.
We hope they get help, truly!

This will be the top performing campaign ever for the company, without question. Complete marketing team W
It absolutely IS about eugenics and using cultural cues to pedal right-wing ideals, but pop off king! 🤭
Honestly I don't think "beauty" should be left or right wing, everyone should aspire to be beautiful, healthy and in good shape
Nor do I, but your argument is that the outrage from this ad isn't because of the blatant pro-eugenics propaganda
It's just a jeans ad it's not eugenics propaganda, frankly I don't think people even understand the definition of that word
