I have a theory that writers block is a symptom of burn out. Burn out has a lot of levels, and we see it a lot with other professions. If true it means you can anticipate it happening.
I don't think it's a coincidence that the best things for writers block (take a break, change your environment, etc) are the same for burn out.

Great suggestions here. I have a personal archive of material to draw upon when I feel stuck. And I fully subscribe to the notion of solvitur ambulando - "it is solved by walking." Simply getting up from the desk and taking in the world around you can provide all sorts of inspiration.
Walking is prob the best and simplest way to get unstuck, had a prev teammate who nearly always did walking meetings and was the only person I ever looked fwd to doing meetings with
